For today’s Blogging University Assignment #writing201 we need to write a poem about someone’s or something’s imperfect nature. The form should be limerick (Limericks are traditionally composed of five lines of verse. The traditional rhyming scheme of a limerick is a a b b a — the first two lines rhyme, then the next two, and the final verse rhymes with the first couplet.) and the device enjambment ( when a grammatical sentence stretches from one line of verse to the next).
Apart from being tongue twisters, these form and device gave me a bit of a headache. So I came up with these two limericks in the end.
From Perfect to Imperfect
Being perfect is hard work
You always have to be no 1, but
When perfection transforms
And imperfection takes her turns,
You”ll feel awesome in your gut.
Little boy’s decision
Little boy was taught to be perfect
But he found it quite dystopic
Being always on first place
Would leave him alone with no friends
That’s why today he’s happy and imperfect.
